Inspiration
Privacy is key and in our age, data in the wrong hands can be detrimental to our livelihoods. Even the most mundane ordinances in our life can be manipulated. We know an agenda is an everyday item in our lives, so we're here to keep you protected.
What it does
PrivateWorks is a school agenda secured by Blockstack. It keeps your info decentralized and allows access from everywhere. Keeping your life organized and keeping it private.
How I built it
We used Blockstack authentication to allow users to privately access the decentralized service. We also used node.js to build the website. MongoDB Atlas was also a keystone software to store data such as usernames, passwords, and contents.
Challenges I ran into
Blockstack was an incredibly difficult software to work with, so there was definitely a learning curve that did not leave us enough time to create some of our more complex ideas. However, we realized that most common-use items are the best.
What I learned
We used everything for the first time. Blockstack's verification service was entirely new and integrating it with node.js was an entirely new experience for us. MongoDB was also a very effective service, however, implementing was new knowledge for us.
What's next for Private Works
Hopefully, PrivateWorks is only the start and soon we can decentralize our lives entirely. Anything from schedules to reading the news, our data is valuable, so we should treat it as so.
