Inspiration ✨
Inspired by the graphics of a word cloud, modularity of a bento box, and the aesthetic features of Notion, we bring Priority Clarity helping you clear your schedule while being aware of where your priorities should lie!
What it does ✏️
While traditional to-do lists provide some organization, each list element looks and feels the same with no major defining features. In a world where 2/3 people are visual learners, there needs to be a more perceptible task manager. This is where Priority Clarity comes in.
Our website aims to provide a clear visual and intuitive representation of tasks. Users will input their events into their Priority Clarity planner and according to the due date of the task, a new block will be formed and sized according to priority. Tasks with closer due dates appear larger and are positioned on the left side. Whereas, tasks due later on appear smaller and are positioned to the right. Eventually, users will be able to interact with each block by clicking on it to edit the event and add notes.
Priority Clarity helps turn daunting to-do lists into a visually intuitive organizational structure. Making school feel almost like a videogame as users work to clear away the largest blocks!
How we built it 💻
Firstly, we used Figma to brainstorm, design, and prototype what the planner would look like before coding. The front end was built with Javascript, CSS, and HTML.
Challenges we ran into 💪
Since our team is made up of first-time hackers, starting a project was daunting. We didn’t know which ideas were out of our reach and which were attainable. Furthermore, we decided on a topic none of us were familiar with; frontend development. As we all had minimal experience using HTML, CSS, and Javascript there was a huge learning curve we had to get over.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
Our team is proud to have a semi-functional product and detailed Figma designs. Additionally, we're glad we were able to quickly learn new skills and apply them at Deltahacks
What we learned 💡
We all learned a few new scripts and a new coding language. With this experience, we were able to dip our toes into front-end development and this experience will no doubt carry into our other development projects.
What's next for Priority Clarity? 🗓️
There were many features we had brainstormed and prototyped but were unable to implement due to time constraints and lack of knowledge in using Javascript. In the future, Priority Clarity should be able to scroll horizontally to view more tasks in the future, provide stats about tasks in the forms of visual progress bars, implement more high-level CSS animations and offer users alternative priority conditions.
