Inspiration

Looking at the trend of highly infections diseases (SARS, swine flu, Ebola, covid-19), around 5 years time, there may be another virus pandemic. The current healthcare systems are not prepared for pandemic. So the question is - how can we prepare for the next pandemic? and how can we improved the current healthcare system?

Due to the highly infectious covid-19, many carers are unable to provide care or reach people who need care. Elderlies suffering from chronic diseases required routine checkup, however this may not be possible due to the covid-19 crisis.

What it does

Our solution is a two way app platform for caregivers and patients who required routine health monitoring. The system leverages AI technology to analyze data collected from facial recognition, speech recognition and wearable devices through IoT on a daily basis, and alert the caregivers if there is any identified risks.

How we built it

Health data are collected from smartphone camera, sensors, microphone and wearable devices. Collected data are analyzed by trained machine learning algorithms using datasets and API available online (Human API and Cloud Vision API). Data visualization was done using Grafana, and InfluxDB is used for storing Cloud-based time series database. A secure repository is created on the server and only doctors/ caregivers can access to that specific repository. It is secured by putting adequate security in place both at the server end and the client end. Also, we are planning to implement MultiFactor Authentication on the client end so that when doctors/ caregivers access the app/ data, they will be required to enter an ID, password and most importantly a third authentication which could be a code or text, etc. To ensure security of data, any users accessing the server to run analysis must use Multifactor Authentication.

Challenges we ran into

Elderly users are not familiar with smartphone apps, and there is a technological barrier for them to adopt our platform. Taking this into consideration, we desiged the user interface to make sure the impaired senses can be tackled by proper labeling, and colour/ font selections so that everything is clear and legible. Also, we included clear indications of what actions to take, as they might not easily understand what younger users understand. We added more engagement to make sure they remember everything because they might have decline in memory.

What's next for PrimalTrack

We are looking for more developers and designers to join the team. Give us a shout if you're interested:)
