Inspiration
The LGBTQ+ community is the most vulnerable and underrepresented community in India. They are excluded from society and not given access to many facilities, rights and respect. How we built it
The web application PrideAll is built using the Dart language and the Flutter framework.
Challenges we ran into
When I started coding a web application in Flutter then the UI of the web design looked very cluttered. Then I had to redesign it according to the web. Also, I faced numerous bugs while coding but resolved them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It was a whole new experience for me as I tried to develop a web application for the first time using Flutter. I had previously used Flutter to build Android applications, but doing the same on the web was quite challenging. But in the end, I managed to develop the web application.
What we learned
During the hackathon I used many new widgets which I never used before and experimented with them by reading various documentation on the internet like MouseRegion(), ExpansionTile(), Wrap(), etc. I learned how to deploy a website on GitHub pages and also to build a web application using Flutter. Gathering all the resources was quite challenging for me as very few and scattered resources for the LGBTQ+ community are available on the available sources.
What's next for PrideAll
- In the community forums, I have thought of adding a post section where the users can post blogs, write inspirational stories and discuss on various issues.
- Lawyers can be onboarded on our platform to provide legal help to the community people who need them. It would be a win-win for both parties as the lawyers will get clients and our users will get a legal advisor to stand by their side.
- I have thought of collaborating with government organizations and NGOs to increase the reach of the PrideAll platform and connect relevant connections and organizations to open the doors to more communities.
