Inspiration

Pride Translators is a small Github organization where I translate LGBTQ+ learning resources into Korean. I started this project because it was so shocking that there were almost no relevant online resources in the language. But some people struggled to explore resources, so I thought there needed to be something more than simply putting translations on Github. So I decided to make it in the hackathon.

What it does

It simply introduces Pride Translators, but it also comes with more intuitive interface than Github organization page. I believe many non-coders would find it easier to navigate!

How I built it

I used Svelte as a front-end framework, Python for automation, and Github Actions to deploy the website. SASS was also used for stylings.

Challenges I ran into

I've never worked at a company before, so I'm not really used to fast-paced development. Working on the project, I basically put all my energy into it. Then I think I realized how it is important to checkup with my health. Also, I should fix my posture too. My back really hurts. 😭

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I think I actually did a lot of work on my own. Even a few years ago, I was desiring to learn how to code, so I'm really proud of myself!

What I learned

There were going to be 3 people in the team in total, but unfortunately, everyone ended up separating into their own path. It wasn't really bad completely working on my own, some things were actually simpler this way. But I believe it could've been more fun with more people. Later when I have a chance to join another hackathon, I should try joining someone else's team!

What's next for Pride Translator Website

I'm planning a few more improvements like refactorings, better logics and structures for documents. It's so exciting to think how I can improve it over time. 😎🔥
