Inspiration

I have personally observed in my locality that the women especially who are working always struggle in their day to day life like from finding the suitable travel facility in the morning or lodging the complaint/query if they are facing anywhere outside. There is the scarcity of women friendly resources in many urban and semi-urban areas. This inconvenience faced by women in this modern world inspired us to find the solution through our web application. And , thus, we bring here, PRIDE N POWER.

What it does

PRIDE N POWER is a web application that is built only for women for all age groups and fields of work. The web application firstly has the facility of lodging a complaint and sent it to the nearest women healthcare centres. It also has feature of status of complaint system in which women can check whether their complaint has been lodged or not. If the complaint is not lodged, they can report easily. Secondly, the web application contains the travel section providing safe travel system for women. In this , the women can choose their own mode of transport and select the destination and they can easily get the safe and convenient travel.

How we built it

We built this web application using MERN (MONGODB,EXPRESSJS,REACTJS,NODEJS) full stack web development. Our frontend is dependent on ReactJS, tailwindcss, materia-ui and react-bootstrap. Our backend is dependent on NodeJS, expressjs and mongoose. We took MONGODB as our database. MONGODB contains the user authentication details ,the record of array of data like complaint data, travel history of user, activity in the server, etc.

We created our own APIs in order to show the data on reactjs.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was to manage the different routes and paths as the data was being fetched from backend i.e. expressjs to reactjs i.e. frontend and vice versa. We also had the experience of using mongo-cloud in which all the data is stored in a single data cloud storage for multiple devices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to implement all the features that we have aimed for. Especially the challenges that ran across us like routing the paths, managing the mongo-cloud has given us boost to hustle in backend development and develop such worthy and useful friendly web application.

What we learned

On technical aspects, we learnt about managing the big set of data interconnecting between the server and client. And we are glad to manage both server and client side rendering. We are proud that we have managed to learn how to create a CRUD(Create, Read, Update, Delete) application through a powerful database like MongoDB.

What's next for PRIDE N POWER

We will try to promote this web application as much as possible. Now, our aim is to make this web application reach to the semi-urban areas where till now the women do not have any safety aide or help to tackle their day to day situation. In these hard times, we hope that our web application will prove as a boon for our women.
