🌈 Inspiration 🌈

Everyday,we as a society try to work towards becoming more inclusive, promoting self acceptance. But more often than not,I've seen my friends more hindered to accept themselves before others accept them.As a cinephile myself,I know firsthand how movies and cinema can build your esteem, give you a wider perspective,a canvas to empathise with. So,to provide a person with a platform to find exclusively lgbtq+ movies, save them and maybe take away a fresher perspective is how the idea came into being!

🏳️‍🌈 What it does? 🏳️‍🌈

A website that lets your create a profile and a tab that shows the best pride movies of all time so you can get loads of LGBTQ movies and loads of pride!

🎬 Challenges we faced 🎬

I am brand new to all things programming,so it was the first time that I worked with html, css and JS in such capacity.Due to time constraint I could not properly integrate firebase in the project hence the data is not visible well in the site, but the code for all of the pages is available in the repository given.

🦚 Accomplishments we're proud of 🦚

For the first time,I implemented web scraping to get data from a site.

Stored the data in Firebase in a favourable format.

Created a multipage website with signup and login.

Used FIGMA and Canva to create designs, maybe too much time spent there in hindsight xD.

Had fun and got a list of movies to watch myself!

👩🏻‍🏫 What we learned 👩🏻‍🏫

Learned working with HTML,JS,CSS ,Figma,Canva, a bit of web scraping,UI design integration and Firebase cloud storage and authentication!

🔮 What's next for Pride-And-Binge 🔮

Hopefully I'll be able to integrate the Firebase properly and the list that exists in the repository as a json file and in Firebase as a database would be visible to the users as well. I would further add a bookmark and filter feature so you can traverse through your own LGBTQ movie database !!
