Inspiration

I wanted to build something that could solve a problem people face in their everyday lives. When shopping online or booking a ride, we often check different platforms to find better prices. Switching between multiple apps and websites takes time, and it is not always easy to decide which option offers the best value. That inspired me to build PricePulse AI.

What it does

PricePulse AI is an AI-powered price comparison platform that helps users make smarter shopping and travel decisions. Product price comparison: Helps users compare product prices and find better-value options. Ride comparison: Brings ride options from services such as Uber, Ola, Rapido, and Namma Yatri into one platform. AI integration: Uses Google's Gemini API to support AI-powered functionality. Simple user experience: Provides a user-friendly interface to make comparing options easier. The main goal is to save users time and help them make more informed decisions.

How we built it

We built PricePulse AI using React and TypeScript for the frontend, with Vite for the development environment. Node.js handles the server-side functionality, and Google's Gemini API provides AI capabilities.

We focused on creating an accessible interface and connecting the frontend with the backend to bring the project's features together. We also used Git and GitHub for version control and project management.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was bringing different types of comparisons into a single platform while keeping the experience simple for users. Connecting the frontend and backend, integrating the AI API, and making sure the application runs correctly required testing and debugging.

We also had to think carefully about how to present information so users could understand their options without navigating multiple platforms.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have developed PricePulse AI as a practical project focused on a real-world problem. Bringing shopping and ride comparisons together in one interface was an important milestone.

We're also proud of integrating AI capabilities into a web application and gaining hands-on experience with frontend development, backend integration, API usage, and version control.

What we learned

Building PricePulse AI helped us understand how different technologies work together in a full-stack web application. We gained practical experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, API integration, debugging, and GitHub.

We also learned that building a useful product involves more than writing code. Understanding user needs, handling technical issues, and continuously improving the experience are equally important.

What's next for PricePulse AI

Our next goal is to improve the accuracy and reliability of price comparisons, expand the range of supported products and services, and enhance the AI-powered recommendations.

We also want to improve price-history insights, availability information, and location-based comparisons so users can make even better decisions. Ultimately, we aim to make PricePulse AI a more reliable and convenient platform for everyday savings.
