Inspiration

As a freelance creator myself, I’d spent years guessing at pricing—undercutting my worth or pricing too high and losing opportunities. I saw fellow creators struggling with the same problem: no clear way to set prices based on real industry data. That frustration sparked the idea for PricingLab—something to turn guesswork into data-backed decisions.

What it does

PricingLab equips creators with tools to analyze industry benchmarks, test price points, build price increase strategies, and generate negotiation-ready quotes. It turns metrics like follower count and engagement into actionable pricing ranges for sponsorships, courses, consulting, and merchandise.

How we built it

I started with wireframing core features in Figma, then built the frontend with React for a responsive UI. Chart.js powered data visualizations, while custom JavaScript logic handled pricing calculations. Firebase hosted mock data, and PDFKit enabled quote exports—all built with a focus on intuitive, card-based design.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest hurdle was translating complex pricing logic into simple, user-friendly inputs. Balancing depth (industry benchmarks, risk analysis) with ease of use meant iterating on form designs repeatedly. I also struggled to create realistic mock data that felt tailored to each user’s input without backend integration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Crafting a seamless experience where creators go from inputting basic metrics to generating professional quotes in minutes. The A/B testing tool’s visual comparison feature and the negotiation toolkit’s talking points have been particularly well-received in early feedback—they turn data into actionable communication.

What we learned

I deepened my understanding of React state management for dynamic forms and learned to prioritize UX over feature bloat. Most importantly, I realized creators don’t need more data—they need usable data. Simplifying complex calculations into clear, actionable insights was the key, not just crunching numbers.

What's next for this project

First, integrate real-time industry data via third-party APIs to replace mock datasets. Then, add customizable templates for price increase announcements and a mobile-responsive redesign. Long-term, I want to build a community layer where creators share actual pricing outcomes to refine the platform’s algorithms.
