Inspiration

We've all experienced the disappointment of finding a better deal after buying an item. We really wanted to provide users with an easy way to see all the offers for a product

What it does

Scrub the internet for eCommerce sites that sell the product the user searched for and displays the results.

How we built it

We decided to use:

  • Next.js: a framework that makes it easy to build visual product pages, with minimal instructions.

  • Apollo GraphQL: to orchestrate data, create and manage user experiences with easy access to many data sources. Apollo’s built-in cache management feature alleviates the development load and equates to better performance on the site.

  • Algolia: for their search capabilities and their AI-powered autocomplete.

  • Contentful: is a super lightweight Headless CMS that’s easy and user-friendly

  • Vercel: to easily scale and deploy our website

Challenges we ran into

  1. Create an amazing UX with a single page application

  2. Solution a process to reduce the number of steps to get the best offer

  3. Crawl the ecommerce sites and keep track of all variables to ensure that any changes are reflected

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Price Seeker is a great idea and would be very useful to accelerate the buying process that feeds the approximately 4.9 trillion U.S. dollars worldwide in eCommerce sales.

What we learned

There’s a lot of different customers, whose needs change over time, so although the focus of Price Seeker is showing good prices and avoid making a bad deal, the information provided will help them decide what the best deal is that fits perfectly, even if it’s not the cheapest one.

What's next for Price Seeker

We’re thinking big… by adding 3D modeling! “Want to check how that TV would look in your living room? Don’t worry, you can do that with Price Seeker.”

We believe customers are always right, so adding a few reviews or/and unboxing videos can help in deciding which product to buy.
