Inspiration
As a student myself, I noticed how many of my peers struggle with juggling homework, study schedules, and stress all at the same time. I wanted to build something that helps students stay organized while also taking care of their mental health.
During development, I learned how much design and user experience impact whether people actually use a tool. I also faced challenges balancing a simple interface with functional features like a homework organizer, focus timer, and stress check-in. Iterating through these challenges taught me problem-solving, prioritization, and how to think like a user.
This project combines my interest in technology with a real problem that affects students every day. It’s rewarding to see a concept go from an idea to a working prototype that could actually help someone manage their workload and stress.
What it does
PressureLess is a web-based tool that helps students:
Organize homework: Enter classes, assignments, and due dates, sorted by urgency
Focus effectively: Built-in 25-minute focus timer with 5-minute break reminders
Track stress levels: Daily check-ins provide supportive feedback and tips
Visualize progress: Dashboard shows tasks, focus sessions, and stress trends
It’s designed to be simple, easy to use, and student-friendly, so students can focus on work without getting overwhelmed by complicated apps.
How we built it
I built PressureLess using:
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend
Browser Local Storage to save tasks and stress data
Canva for design mockups and dashboard visuals
Iterative prototyping and testing in Chrome DevTools
The focus was on creating a working, responsive prototype that demonstrates the core features and solves a real student problem.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges that I ran into while creating PressureLess consisted of:
Designing a dashboard that is both functional and clean
Balancing simplicity with enough features to be useful
Ensuring data persists across sessions using only local storage
Explaining the app clearly in a short demo video for judges
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completed a fully functional prototype with core features working
Designed a clean, user-friendly interface suitable for students
Created a demo video and documentation that clearly communicates the value of PressureLess
Developed a solution that addresses both productivity and mental wellness, a combination not often found in existing tools
What we learned
How to turn an idea into a working prototype
Importance of user-focused design
How to prioritize features and simplify the interface
How to present a project clearly and effectively in a demo video
What's next for PressureLess
Adding AI-powered study suggestions based on assignments and stress levels
Implementing teacher or parent dashboards for tracking student progress
