Inspiration
Many women in STEM experience the Imposter Syndrome despite their education, training and success in tech. This mistaken belief may be due to problems that women have with speaking in a clear, confident manner without undercutting their own accomplishments. As part of a solution for "Create STEM Opportunities For Women" in the "Graph For A Better World" focus, I will build tools to analyze speeches to improve their qualities.
What it does
The graph will be used to analyze the measured parameters from the speeches. Speech-to-text tools break down audio of the speech to identify individual words, such as filler words like "ah" and "um", which are counted and provided as part of the quality of the speech. The video and audio of the speeches will be used to identify the pace, volume and vocal variation in the speech. Images will be taken from the video to check the speakers eye contact and posture.
How I built it
I used TigerGraph's online tools to build the scheme and the graph.
Challenges I ran into
Several issues trying to create a graph from the schema created from the online TigerGraph interface. The interface kept giving me Error messages.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Improving soft skills, such as public speaking, can help women overcome their fear of being an imposter. With practice and analyze of their prior speeches, women can sound more confident of their ideas and advance their careers.
What I learned
This project helped me to understand GSQL and how to build a schema with nodes and edges vs the table structure of relational databases.
What's next for Present With Confidence
I hope to work with TigerGraph on future products. In time, I would like to build the infrastructure and tools to gather the speech data that the graph database was created to analyze.
