Inspiration
Intuition is often the first signal that something isn’t right. A sudden feeling of unease, a quiet voice telling you to cross the street, the instinct to pause and check your surroundings, these quiet signals can protect us from danger.
Yet many people hesitate to trust them. Intuition can feel ambiguous or difficult to explain, and people often question whether their instincts are valid or if they are simply overreacting.
PRESENSE was inspired by the idea that these feelings deserve acknowledgment. Our app acts as a steady, trustworthy presence that validates these instincts, encouraging users to pause, listen to their intuition, and respond when something doesn’t feel right.
What it does
PRESENSE is a safety companion designed for moments of uncertainty. When a user senses that something may be wrong, the app provides quick, accessible tools that help them respond immediately.
How we built it
We focused on designing an interface that prioritizes clarity, speed, and emotional awareness. The goal was to create a system that feels calm and supportive while still allowing users to act instantly when needed.
Using Figma's digital design and prototyping tools, we built an experience centered around quick accessibility and minimal friction. Every element was intentionally simplified so users can navigate the app without hesitation, especially during stressful situations.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was brainstorming an idea that pushed the limits of imagination while still creating an app that felt usable and practical. We wanted the concept to feel creative and forward, thinking, but also grounded in real situations where people might genuinely need help.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that as beginners to Figma we were able to create a final product that encompasses our vision. The final concept feels both supportive and practical. The design acknowledges emotional instincts while still prioritizing usability and safety.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how important it is to focus on user experience first, especially when designing tools meant for moments of stress or danger. In these situations, people don’t need novelty or complexity, they need clarity, calm, and something they can trust immediately.
Rather than designing for what simply looks innovative, we focused on creating an experience that feels grounding. Every interaction was designed to reduce friction and keep the user focused instead of distracted.
What's next for PRESENSE
Looking ahead, we’re excited to explore how emerging technologies could expand the experience even further. One possibility is a futuristic interface, such as a holographic interaction system that allows users to access safety tools quickly and intuitively in physical space. We also want to explore building a stronger sense of community within the app. The platform could become more than just a tool, it could become a network of people looking out for one another.
Our goal is to continue evolving PRESENSE into a trusted presence: one that helps people listen to their instincts, feel supported by others, and navigate the world with greater confidence.
