🩺 Prescriptly — Making Medical Prescriptions Clear, Digital, and Human 💡 About the Project

Medical prescriptions are one of the most critical forms of communication in healthcare, yet they are often unclear and difficult to interpret. Handwritten notes, complex drug names, unclear dosages, and language barriers frequently leave patients confused. Even small misunderstandings can result in missed doses, overdosing, or delayed recovery.

The inspiration behind Prescriptly came from a simple but powerful question:

Why can’t understanding a prescription feel as simple and guided as using a modern digital assistant?

Prescriptly aims to bridge the gap between clinical instructions and patient understanding by transforming traditional prescriptions into an interactive, AI-driven digital experience.

⚙️ What It Does

Prescriptly converts static prescriptions into structured, easy-to-understand digital formats. It allows users to:

View prescriptions clearly with proper formatting Manage medicines with dosage, timing, and instructions Interact with an AI chatbot for simplified explanations Ask questions like “What happens if I miss a dose?” Access prescription data anytime, anywhere

Instead of forcing users to interpret complex medical text, Prescriptly enables conversation-based understanding.

🛠️ How We Built It

Prescriptly is a full-stack, cloud-deployed application designed for usability and scalability.

Frontend: Built using React, focusing on clean UI, readability, and accessibility Backend: Developed using Flask/Node.js to handle business logic and API communication AI Integration: Enables natural language interaction for medicine-related queries Authentication: Implemented using Firebase for secure user management Deployment: Cloud-based hosting ensures real-time access and scalability

The system is designed to minimize cognitive load and maximize clarity for users across all age groups.

⚡ Challenges Faced

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that AI responses remain helpful yet safe in a healthcare environment. The system needed to guide users without providing risky or diagnostic advice.

We also faced deployment challenges related to environment configuration, authentication domains, and API integration.

Another key difficulty was designing an interface that works seamlessly for both tech-savvy users and beginners, requiring multiple iterations and usability testing.
