Inspiration

Elderly patients suffer in beds for many hours a day. Being inactive for that long can only lead to problems down the road. Older patients are more likely to suffer from loneliness and other mental illnesses from being alone that long. I want to prevent senior citizens from falling into these sudden traps by providing something that can make them laugh.

What it does

Prescribed Smiles is a monitor that is programmed with over 500+ jokes that are guaranteed to make older patients who are going through a hard time laugh or smile. Just press its button on the bottom to hear something funny anytime and anywhere you want!

How I built it

I built this website on repl.it in under 10 hours. I'm incredibly proud of the amount of work I have accomplished.

Challenges

I definitely had a large problem with CSS. None of my CSS codes were working and that definitely made me confused at most.

Accomplishments

I'm so proud of how good my Javascript works. The functionality is impeccable and I truly am proud of myself.

What I learned

I learned that not everything can turn out perfect! I struggled a lot as Github is a way different coding software than I am used to.

What's next for Prescribed Smiles

I plan to create more of these laughter-inducing machines for different audiences such as children, teenagers, and adults!
