Inspiration

The inspiration for StudyMaster came from observing the struggles of students preparing for major exams like the IB, SAT, ACT, and AP tests. With a myriad of resources scattered across various platforms and the constant challenge of managing study time effectively, students often find themselves overwhelmed. We wanted to create an all-in-one app that not only provides high-quality study materials but also integrates essential productivity tools to streamline the study process.

What it does

StudyMaster is an all-in-one app designed to help students prepare for IB, SAT, ACT, and AP exams efficiently. The app offers comprehensive study resources, including interactive practice tests and quizzes tailored to each exam, ensuring students have access to high-quality materials. The integrated Pomodoro timer helps students stay focused and productive with customizable work and break intervals. Additionally, StudyMaster features a to-do list that allows students to create, manage, and prioritize their study tasks, complete with options to set deadlines and reminders.

How we built it

The development of StudyMaster began with extensive planning and research. I conducted surveys and interviews with students to understand their study habits and needs. This user feedback informed the app's features and design. Next, I created wireframes and mockups to visualize the user interface, focusing on an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing design. Using Swift, I built a native iOS app that ensured a smooth and responsive user experience. The resource library was populated with carefully curated study materials, and I developed the Pomodoro timer and to-do list features to enhance productivity.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was balancing the breadth of features with simplicity. We wanted to include comprehensive resources and productivity tools without overwhelming the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am particularly proud of the seamless integration of comprehensive study resources tailored for IB, SAT, ACT, and AP exams. The positive feedback from beta testers highlighted the effectiveness of the Pomodoro timer and the intuitive to-do list, both of which significantly enhanced their study routines. Another accomplishment was successfully balancing a robust feature set with a user-friendly interface, making the app both powerful and easy to navigate.

What we learned

Developing StudyMaster provided me with valuable insights into the needs and challenges faced by students preparing for major exams. Additionally, I gained experience in curating educational content and the significance of presenting it in an accessible and engaging manner.

What's next for Prepify

I aim to expand the resource library with even more detailed and diverse study materials. Introducing social features, such as study groups and peer discussions, is also on the roadmap to foster a supportive community of learners.
