Inspiration
Women are the strongest pillar of this society, and one of the most difficult but crucial part of any women's life is the time of pregnancy. Women’s diets in many countries contain limited fruits, vegetables, dairy, fish and meat. During pregnancy, poor diets lacking in key nutrients – like iodine, iron, folate, calcium and zinc – can cause anaemia, pre-eclampsia, haemorrhage and death in mothers. They can also lead to stillbirth, low birthweight, wasting and developmental delays for children. UNICEF estimates that low birthweight affects more than 20 million newborns every year. One of the cause of this is not having proper information about nutrition during pregnancy, not getting proper guidance and medical assistance when needed. This affects almost all women and the whole world.
What it does
Help a pregnant lady track vital nutrients that are required, bring a layer of safety at the time of emergency.
How we built it
We used flask to build the REST API to serve the bootstrap application. We used MongoDB as a Non-SQL database. We used Reliable, well known research papers to know more about the nutrition requirements, diet supplements and thing to avoid for Pregnant women.
Challenges we ran into
our team was quite small in size. there was a lot of network issue. Getting reliable data about the fact and information about nutrition during pregnancy.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to pulled this project on time while both of us weren't much aware about each other's tech stack.
What we learned
Apart from ton of technical knowledge that we got, we learned that planning plays a crucial role and understanding each other in the team is the key.
What's next for Pregime
Since it was a 36 hours long hackathon we could only build as much it was possible. This time we are collecting lots of data from the users that we will use for AI modeling and enhancing the experience. We would integrate a doctor relationship as well so they can serve the user much better. We will include more types of food and nutrients.
