The Event Before the Event — built for the AI Hackathon @ Berkeley

🚀 Why We Built It

At most hackathons, meeting the right people is pure luck. You scroll through Discord intros or wander the venue hoping for a match. What if an AI agent could do that before you even show up? Pregame Club was built to make networking intentional, not accidental — helping hackers meet collaborators, mentors, or investors before the first line of code.

💡 What It Does

🔎 Smart Search: Ask for who you want — “co-founder with LLM experience” or “someone working on agent infra.” The AI finds matches.

🤖 AI Intros: Agents connect you to relevant hackers based on your goal.

🧠 Profile Optimization: AI reviews and enhances your networking profile for discoverability.

📸 Live Event Gallery: Share, comment, and engage with what’s happening — before, during, and after the hackathon.

🛠️ How We Built It

Frontend: Started with V0 (AI code generation), built on Next.js 14, React, Tailwind, and ShadCN UI

Backend: Fully Firebase — Firestore (real-time), Auth, and Storage

AI Layer: Powered by Google Genkit with custom prompt flows for matching, suggestions, and profile help

Deployment: Firebase Hosting

⚙️ What We Learned

Hackers don’t have time for fluff. One prompt, three intros, done.

Prompt design matters. Genkit required precise flows to return structured, reliable matches.

Real-time sync at scale is 🔑 for energy at live events.
