Inspiration

During the covid-19 epidemic the world went into a lockdown , shutting medical facilities for people to have diagnostics , tests for chronic heart , kidney , liver diseases . People were afraid to visit hospitals , pathology labs as they were at risk of getting infected . This problem was worse for elderly , obese and ill people, so this horrific medical breakdown inspired me to develop some instrument so that people could get their expected risk against some disease as mentioned already .So we created PredictMed , your one stop destination for checking your health.

What it does

PredictMed takes some basic information from user about his age , sex , medical reports of past , etc and then it predicts that whether the user is at risk of any chronic disease like that of heart , liver ,etc. It is very user friendly and easy to use as it has been specially built for elderly people. The wait outside pathologies , queues of hospitals , large bills draining your life-savings, all can be avoided by PredictMed

How we built it

We trained Machine learning models (in jupyter notebook) on datasets collected from various legitimate sites like link and gained accuracy of more than 90%. We deployed the model onto our backend and integrated it with our mobile application (built with android studio) and our website built using react and flask. The site was deployed on Heroku link .

Challenges we ran into

Finding appropriate datasets was a real challenge . Increasing accuracy of models made us to use different ML algorithms like random forest , SVM,etc Deployment of model was quite challenging as well .

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Gaining high accuracy in our models was a big relief as we were assured of getting correct output for our users. Giving the best result is what we aimed for as it can be a life saving text for anyone unaware of his medical state. The frontend developers did a great job in making the website and mobile app look impressive and making the navigation smooth and user friendly . Successfully submitting the project and completing the hack in the limited time was a big achievement .

What we learned

We learnt a lot about how to deploy ML models on server and integrating them with website and mobile app. Also team work was a virtue that enhanced in us.

What's next for PredictMed

We are determined to work more on it and add more disease prediction models , finding better datasets , improving our accuracy and saving a lot of time , money and removing all delusions and fear from your mind. We also hope to expand our services for providing real time medical assistance and reach remote areas and strive for a noble cause.
