Inspiration We wanted to create a smarter and more sustainable solution using AI and IoT that could predict waste levels before issues arise. Our inspiration came from the growing need for cleaner cities, efficient municipal services, and smart city development.
What it does Predictive Waste Insights is an AI-driven waste management system that monitors garbage bins in real time using smart sensors and cameras. The system predicts bin fill levels, optimizes garbage collection routes, detects illegal dumping, and sends automated alerts to municipal workers
How we built it We designed the project using a combination of:
- IoT Sensors to monitor waste levels inside bins
- AI & Data Analytics to predict waste accumulation patterns
- GPS Tracking for smart route optimization
- AI-powered Cameras to detect illegal dumping
- Cloud-based Dashboard & Mobile App for monitoring and alerts
Challenges we ran into Designing a system that can accurately predict bin fill levels
Integrating AI, sensors, and routing into one unified platform. Handling real-time data updates efficiently. Reducing false alerts for illegal dumping detection. Creating a scalable solution suitable for both urban and rural areas. Ensuring optimized routing without increasing computational complexity.
