As urban populations grow, city governments face challenges in managing energy, water, traffic, and emergency services efficiently. This project aims to build an intelligent, AI-powered Smart City Insights Dashboard using Tableau Next and Salesforce Data Cloud, capable of:
Integrating real-time IoT data from sensors (traffic, pollution, water usage, electricity)
Predicting peak demand hours for electricity and water using built-in AI models
Recommending resource reallocation to optimize usage and reduce waste
Sending automated alerts through Slack when anomalies (like water leaks or traffic congestion) are detected
Providing a citizen view for public transparency and government accountability
The dashboard helps urban planners and municipal officers take proactive actions based on data-driven predictions. Tableau Next’s agentic analytics allows users to interact with the dashboard conversationally, asking it questions like:
“When is the next high-demand window for water in Sector 5?” “What traffic zones need rerouting tomorrow based on pattern trends?”
Tech Stack:
Tableau Next (with agentic analytics)
Salesforce Data Cloud (for real-time data ingestion)
Slack (for alert workflows)
Udes: Python/JavaScript for additional backend processing (weather API, predictive modeling)
Why This Works for the Hackathon:
This idea aligns perfectly with Tableau's hackathon themes:
Agentic Analytics: letting users interact with smart dashboards naturally
Real-world impact: focusing on smart city infrastructure
Multi-tool integration: combining Tableau, Data Cloud, and Slack
AI + visualization: enabling both
