Predictions for Future COVID 19 cases in Los Angeles
In order to help Los Angeles Residents learn about how COVID-19 will spread in their community, I have used machine learning to forecast how the coronavirus will spread in LA in the upcoming months,
Inspiration - Several of my friends and family came down with coronavirus, and I wanted to do everything I could to stop the pandemic. Therefore, I made a tracker that uses machine learning to predict the spread of COVID-19 in Los Angeles.
What it does - It returns the probability of someone getting COVID-19 based on the date and the city population.
How I built it - I first got data from the CDC on the spread of COVID-19 in the past few weeks. Then, I used this data to make a model to predict how COVID-19 would spread in the future.
Challenges I ran into - At first, I did not know how to get the required data needed for my machine learning algorithm. It also took some effort to make the equation modeling COVID-19 cases based on date.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of - I am proud of the fact that my model and predictions can help others living in LA County in the future,
What I learned - In addition to learning JavaScript, I also learned just how fast COVID-19 could spread if no necesary actions are taken.
What's next for Predictions for Future COVID 19 cases in Los Angeles - We can use this data to further improve the probability of a person getting coronavirus based on their location, income level, Food/water quality, and government policy in their community.
