Inspiration
One of our team member had interest in exploring the disease causes. Its disheartening when a person affected with Alzheimer's might die in their critical stage. With research and advancements, we can definitely find solution to this problem.
What it does
We aimed at building a Machine Learning model to predict whether a patient has Alzheimer's Disease or not using their gene expression. The trained model gives pretty good accuracy.
How we built it
We divided over work into parts, with everyone working towards building the right model. We gathered the dataset from ncib website, scrutinized it together and brainstormed on various data pre processing steps. With full team support we were able to implement two machine learning algorithms.
Challenges we ran into
We face difficulties in finding the appropriate data set and to run the pre processing techinques.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We could include an "wow factor" in our project and could implement 2 algorithms with decent accuracy.
What we learned
All my team members were data science enthusiasts, doing this project together gave us all different perspective to look at dataset and to indulge in vivid creative ideas.
What's next for Prediction of Alzheimer's Disease using Gene Expression.
We aim to build an application oriented gui for aid in medical field. Our idea is to build a gui, where the application takes in the required input and predicts the output and give it back to the user.
