Inspiration
We wanted to use the blockchain or cryptocurrency in some way to make a fun game to play with friends.
What it does
The website allows users to create prediction markets funded by M&G IOUs. Then other users can buy shares of yes or no.
How we built it
We used JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for the front-end and back-end programming. Supabase was used to store extraneous and data-dense information that is too expensive to store on chain. Hedera was used to access the blockchain and solidity was used to write a smart contract to the blockchain.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble putting the multiple smart contracts on the blockchain, and having them integrate seamlessly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is our first hackathon so we're proud that we were even able to submit a project. We were also proud that we learned a lot of technologies while designing this website.
What we learned
We learned how to access the blockchain using Hedera and how to use Supabase to store and authenticate user information.
What's next for Prediction Market
We can make the website look nicer.
