🧬 Inspiration
7 million lives are lost annually to diseases we could catch early with genetic screening. The technology exists - Google's AlphaGenome - but it's locked behind technical barriers. Watching researchers in the AlphaGenome community struggle with API setup sparked this idea in me.
💡 What it does
PredictGenome democratizes genomic analysis with a ChatGPT-style interface:
- Drag & drop VCF files - no coding required
- Instant analysis using AlphaGenome API (30 seconds)
- Plain English summaries via AI - anyone can understand
- Visual risk indicators - red/yellow/green for quick assessment
- PDF reports - shareable with healthcare providers
🛠️ How i built it
Built entirely with Bolt.new in 48 hours non-stop:
- React + TypeScript frontend with glassmorphism UI
- Node.js API routes connecting to AlphaGenome
- OpenRouter integration for AI summaries (DeepSeek model)
- Deployed on Netlify with CI/CD
🚧 Challenges i ran into
- Self Doubt but this MVP for my startup idea has helped me convert that doubt into self belief!
- AlphaGenome API documentation complexity (exactly what users face!)
- Simplifying genomic data visualization for non-technical users
- Creating real-time processing animations
- Ensuring HIPAA-compliant data handling
🏆 Accomplishments
- Reduced analysis time from 3 hours to 30 seconds
- Successfully abstracted complex API into simple drag-drop interface
- Created fully functional MVP that researchers can use TODAY!
- Built a scalable architecture ready for millions of users

Improving it as of now, I'm really curious to dive deep into genomic analysis and improve it through feedback: I'm working on next on these:
- Adding Supabase for user accounts and analysis history
- Multi-language support for global accessibility
- Partnership with research institutions
- Mobile app development
