As an art student I fell in love with the work of the pre-Raphaelites. Their highly stylized imagery and symbolism captivated my imagination. The paintings feel like a place and time somewhere beyond our dreams, like these characters live in a world of utopian possibilities. I have always dreamed what their world must be like.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge is to get the images to come to life or look truly animated, the AI tools have been progressively getting better at this so that now I can often simply prompt to bring this image to life or visualize a dream sequence and I get very nice results that look hand animated.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

When I started using generative AI tools one of my more rewarding efforts has been to bring this imagery to life. I did not copy the work of the pre-Raphaelite artists but crafted my own vision with a combination of very detailed and descriptive text and also image prompts. I start with still images or key frames; I generate about 20 to 30 to explore and refine before selecting a single image for keyframes in my animations. I almost always bring AI images into Photoshop for further refinement and enhancements.
