Inspiration
Every year, millions of people apply for roles they are almost qualified for. They don’t know exactly what skills they’re missing, why their resume gets filtered out, or what they should focus on learning next. At the same time, hiring teams review hundreds of resumes, interview a few candidates, and still struggle to choose the right hire.
Pathon is built to solve both sides of this problem using one shared system.
Pathon is a two‑sided platform with a single login. It has a job seeker experience and a hiring experience. Both are powered by the same intelligence layer but are designed for different users.
For job seekers, Pathon focuses on clarity and direction. Instead of generic advice, it builds a detailed career profile using the user’s resume, LinkedIn history, skills, goals, and past projects.
From this, Pathon helps users understand how closely they match specific roles by comparing their resume directly against job descriptions and showing what is missing and why. It doesn’t stop at identifying gaps. It provides a clear learning roadmap with recommended skills, courses, tutorials, and learning paths to help users close those gaps.
Pathon also helps users explore real career paths by showing different role options, how well each aligns with them, how long it would take to become ready, and which paths may look attractive but are not a good fit. Instead of overwhelming dashboards, Pathon always highlights one clear next action so users know exactly what to do next.
It also helps users prepare stronger applications and interviews by generating role‑specific cover letters, creating interview stories from real projects, and showing how their experience aligns with what employers evaluate.
For employers, Pathon provides a hiring experience built on the same system, but viewed from the other side. Hiring teams can create clear job descriptions from simple role descriptions, track candidates through a structured pipeline, review candidates with better context around skills and experience, and understand their hiring funnel at a glance.
This is not a job board and not a basic resume keyword filter. It is designed to reduce bad fits early and surface strong candidates faster.
What makes Pathon different is that it is not a chatbot and not a collection of disconnected tools. All features share one consistent career intelligence system built on real user data. Job seekers and employers see different views of the same underlying information, which makes the system more accurate and useful over time.
In a single 48‑hour hackathon, we built a complete job seeker experience, a complete hiring experience, more than 15 working features, a polished motion‑driven UI, and a privacy‑first architecture where sensitive data is processed on the client side whenever possible.
This is a real product foundation, not a concept or a demo.
Hiring is broken because job seekers don’t know how close they really are, and employers don’t get strong signals early enough. Pathon closes that gap by making readiness, expectations, and next steps clear on both sides of the hire.
We wanted to work on something that reflected that reality, something meaningful!!
How We Built It
We started by listing each problem we wanted to explore and then broke it down into small, testable components.
Every decision was made with intention: What does the user need at this moment? What’s the least overwhelming way to present it? The goal was not to do more, but to do what mattered well.
Challenges We Faced
One of the biggest challenges was balance. It’s very easy in a hackathon to overbuild, overpromise, or rely on surface‑level polish. We had to constantly pull ourselves back and ask whether each decision actually improved clarity and usability.
Time was another challenge.
What We Learned
We learned that small, thoughtful design decisions can have a much bigger impact than complex features. People don’t always need more information. They need better framing and clearer next steps.
Lastly, we learned that good products come from empathy. When you start by understanding how people feel, not just what they need, the rest of the decisions become much clearer.
