Inspiration 🌍

In today’s educational landscape, students often face challenges accessing resources, finding clarity on tough concepts, and connecting with mentors outside of the classroom. Recognizing this gap, we were inspired to create Prashn – a platform that fosters collaboration, connects students with professors, and empowers students to share and explore knowledge. With the rise of online learning, we wanted Prashn to be a space where curiosity thrives, making learning interactive, engaging, and accessible for all.

What it does 📚

Prashn is a collaborative platform designed for students and professors to share questions, create custom question papers, and solve academic problems together. It allows users to:

Create Questions and Papers: Users can create individual questions or entire question papers using a vast question bank, covering diverse topics and levels of difficulty.

Attempt and Discuss: Students can attempt questions posted by others, engage in discussions in the comment section, and provide explanations to help peers understand solutions.

Learn Through Collaboration:Users can see explanations from fellow students and professors, fostering a community-driven learning experience.

In essence, Prashn turns learning into a collaborative journey, where students help each other and seek guidance from mentors along the way.

How we built it 🛠️

We built Prashn using a full-stack MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) framework for its flexibility, scalability, and ability to handle real-time interactions. The frontend focuses on an intuitive, user-friendly interface that makes it easy to navigate questions and discussions. The backend, powered by MongoDB, securely manages user data and question banks while providing fast access to resources. We incorporated Redux to manage user state, and implemented Elasticsearch for a high-performing search function, enhancing user experience when finding specific topics or questions.

Challenges we ran into 🚧

Efficient Search Functionality: Implementing a robust search that could handle fuzzy queries and large datasets without slowing down was a significant challenge.

User Authentication and Session Management: Ensuring a secure and seamless login experience was vital. Balancing security with usability, especially for long-term sessions, required careful design.

Encouraging Quality Discussions: Creating a community-centered comment section that encouraged helpful and respectful interactions took thoughtful planning and UX design considerations.
