Inspiration

We’ve all been there: showing up on day one of a new job, only to be handed a mountain of PDFs, a broken laptop setup guide, and no clear idea of what to do next. Onboarding is often a chaotic, disjointed process where new hires feel lost, and HR teams are overwhelmed by repetitive administrative work. We realized that a company's first impression matters immensely. We built Prarambh to fix this—to turn onboarding from a stressful chore into a magical, personalized experience that gets every new hire confident and ready from day one.

What it does

Prarambh is a unified, AI-powered Onboarding Operating System designed for four distinct roles: Admins, HR Managers, Mentors, and New Hires.

  • For HR: Simply input a job description or upload an HR handbook. Prarambh’s AI instantly analyzes it and auto-generates a structured, day-by-day onboarding task plan tailored specifically to that role.
  • For Mentors: AI intelligently matches new hires with the ideal mentor based on skills and experience, while providing mentors with a dashboard to track progress.
  • For New Hires: A clean, distraction-free dashboard displays onboarding progress, alongside a 24/7 AI Assistant trained on company policies to answer questions instantly without requiring HR intervention.
  • For Admins: A complete, real-time overview of the organization's onboarding pipeline with actionable analytics and insights.

How we built it

We focused heavily on creating a premium, state-of-the-art user experience paired with a powerful agentic backend.

  • Frontend: Built as a highly interactive Single Page Application using React 18 and Vite, written entirely in TypeScript. We used Tailwind CSS with custom styling to create our signature dark, glassmorphic interface featuring backdrop blurs, glowing gradients, and polished animations. Framer Motion powers the smooth page transitions, micro-interactions, and animated hero section, while a custom canvas-based DotField creates the interactive background.
  • Backend & AI: Powered by Python (FastAPI) with LangGraph orchestrating multi-step AI workflows. Google Gemini serves as the core LLM for extracting onboarding tasks from unstructured documents and powering the conversational AI assistant.
  • Database: MongoDB manages user roles, onboarding workflows, task progress, and application state.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Multi-Role UX: Designing a seamless experience that adapts to four completely different user roles without becoming cluttered or confusing. We addressed this with a centralized state architecture and an animated role-selection experience.
  2. Deterministic AI Outputs: Ensuring the LLM consistently generated clean, structured JSON onboarding plans from highly variable job descriptions required extensive prompt engineering and LangGraph workflow optimization.
  3. High-Fidelity Animations: Synchronizing complex glassmorphic card animations with AnimatePresence while maintaining smooth 60 FPS performance across devices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're especially proud of the overall user experience. The premium dark theme, refined animations, and polished interactions make enterprise software feel modern and enjoyable to use. We're also proud of our LangGraph implementation—it goes beyond simple chat by acting as an AI agent that actively generates practical, ready-to-use onboarding workflows for HR teams.

What we learned

Building Prarambh significantly improved our understanding of advanced UI animation with Framer Motion and modern React architecture. On the AI side, we learned how to build stateful, task-oriented AI systems using LangGraph, moving beyond traditional chatbot experiences toward autonomous workflow automation.

What's next for Prarambh

Our roadmap includes deep integrations with platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams, enabling the AI assistant to proactively engage with new hires throughout their onboarding journey. We also plan to implement automated IT provisioning, allowing Prarambh to create accounts such as GitHub, AWS, and other workplace tools automatically on an employee's first day, making onboarding truly end-to-end.
