Inspiration

Smartphones are everything to Gen Z and Alpha—but mostly, they lead to endless scrolling, not real social interaction. We asked: what if we flipped that? What if phones didn’t distract people from the room—they brought them into it?

Prankix was born from that idea. A retro‑futuristic mobile app that blends pixel‑art chaos with cutting-edge AI to generate party games in real time. Suddenly, your phone isn’t pulling you away—it’s passing the mic, starting the round, and turning your friends into players.

What it does

Prankix is your AI-powered party companion, designed for quick laughs and real‑life moments.

  • AI-Generated Challenges: Custom games created in seconds, tailored by difficulty, theme, and player count.
  • Real‑Time Multiplayer Lobbies: Start matches, see who’s in, and get the game going instantly.
  • Community Feed: Share your game results, upvote wild prompts, and celebrate ridiculous wins.

It brings people together—digitally, yes—but for something that happens right in the room.

How I built it

I built Prankix using Bolt.new and Expo, with Supabase powering everything under the hood.

  • The UI was crafted with a pixel-glass cyberpunk aesthetic—bold neon, frosted overlays, and glowing button states.
  • Game prompts are generated with Gemini 2.5 Pro, while fast previews use Gemini 2.5 Flash.
  • I set up Supabase Edge Functions to run game generation, content moderation, and trophy logic securely.
  • I structured the app flow with modular navigation: onboarding → game creation → lobby → gameplay → results → community.
  • Everything was wired, styled, and deployed solo—in under 10 days.

Challenges we ran into

This was my first time building a mobile app with AI. Using Bolt.new felt like vibe-coding a web app, but with higher stakes: native APIs, platform quirks, navigation logic, and a real need for pixel-level polish.

One of the biggest hurdles was token budgeting—Bolt has a limited context window, and describing a complete multi-screen app (with logic!) forced me to get smart about modularity. Every prompt had to be focused, efficient, and buildable.

And then came the orchestration: syncing screens, building real-time flows, connecting Supabase, tuning Gemini prompts, and making sure it all just worked. But that’s where the magic happened.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

  • Built a full AI-powered mobile app from scratch—no prior experience with Bolt.new or mobile AI.
  • Connected Supabase Edge Functions and real-time multiplayer with live player lobbies and AI-generated content.
  • Designed & shipped a pixel-perfect, animated UI that feels like a real mobile game, not just a prototype.
  • Delivered a complete app experience solo in under 10 days—from concept to Bolt.new build to public deployment.

What we learned

  • Good AI needs great prompts. Iteration is everything.
  • Mobile design is a whole different beast. Transitions, layout, and gestures all need intentional design.
  • Going modular isn't optional—it’s essential. Especially when working within token and time limits.
  • People don’t just want cool tech—they want connection. That’s what Prankix delivers.

What’s next for Prankix – Real-Time Ridiculousness | Party Games Mobile App

  • Multilingual Support: Arabic, Spanish, and regional slang packs.
  • Voice Chat & Haptics: Feel the reactions with every round.
  • Blockchain-Based Trophies: Make your wins truly one-of-a-kind.
  • Community Game Packs: Reddit-style meme integrations and seasonal chaos.

Prankix is about turning attention spans into action. Screens into icebreakers. AI into laughter. And we’re just getting started. 🚀
