About PRANA
PRANA (Where the Journey Becomes Care) was inspired by a simple observation: in an emergency, an ambulance should be more than a vehicle transporting a patient—it should be the first stage of care. Critical time can be lost when paramedics, hospitals, and clinicians lack real-time information and coordination.
We built PRANA as an AI-enabled emergency-care coordination platform that supports the journey from ambulance to hospital. The system provides AI-assisted clinical decision support with a doctor-in-the-loop, helps identify suitable hospitals based on their available capabilities, enables pre-arrival coordination, and supports continuity of patient information during transfer.
During development, we learned how to combine AI, healthcare workflows, emergency decision-making, and software engineering into a practical solution. We focused on designing the platform around the needs of patients, paramedics, doctors, and hospitals rather than treating AI as a standalone feature.
The biggest challenges were designing a reliable workflow for time-critical situations, ensuring that AI recommendations remain under clinical supervision, and connecting multiple stakeholders into a single coordinated system. Working within a limited development window also required us to prioritize the most impactful features and rapidly prototype, test, and refine the platform.
PRANA represents our vision of making emergency care faster, smarter, and more connected—starting before the patient reaches the hospital.
