Inspiration

I wanted to help students understand algebra mistakes instead of only seeing the correct answer.

What it does

PracticeAgain lets students enter a basic algebra question, check their solving steps, and read a short explanation. They can then try a similar question on their own. Mistakes and help used are saved in the same browser for later review.

How I built it

I used Codex and the Devpost Learn Skill Pack to plan and build the app with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The planning documents are in the public repository. The app uses an exact algebra checker and saves progress in the browser. It is hosted on Vercel.

Challenges

The main challenge was making the instructions and explanations clear while keeping the maths correct. Testing helped improve question entry, feedback, and support for different unknown letters.

What I learned

Building PracticeAgain showed me how important it is to give correct answers and explain them clearly. Testing helped me make the instructions shorter and the app easier to use. I learned to focus on helping students understand their mistakes and then solve a similar question on their own.

What’s next

Test with more students and use their feedback to improve the explanations. The current version supports linear equations with one unknown.

Demo

The demo uses real screen recordings and an AI-generated voiceover. The app itself does not use a runtime AI service.
