Inspiration

This project was inspired by my own experience when I was new at UTA and didn't know my way around. It made me wish for a fun way to explore the campuses. I wish there was some way that I could know where places to eat, hang out, or even study were located.

What it does

Tour De Campus is an interactive web application designed to help students and visitors navigate the UTA campus effortlessly. It features a user-friendly map that highlights key locations such as dining options, study areas, and social spots. The app provides Google Maps guidance, displaying a map where users can easily see places to visit and navigate to. With integrated AI features, users can chat with AI to receive real-time assistance and personalized recommendations, making their campus experience more enjoyable and informative.

How we built it

We built Tour De Campus using JavaScript, harnessing its versatility to create a dynamic and responsive web application that engages users from the moment they log in. MongoDB Atlas serves as our powerful database, allowing us to efficiently store and manage vital information about campus locations and user-generated content. By integrating Cloudflare AI, we enabled seamless interactions within the app, empowering users to chat with AI for personalized navigation support. Our innovative approach combines cutting-edge technology with a passion for enhancing the campus experience, transforming how students and visitors explore their surroundings.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating maps and navigation into my application presented a formidable challenge. Ensuring users could access accurate, real-time directions while exploring the campus required a deep understanding of mapping technology and seamless API integration. I encountered obstacles in syncing data with the navigation features, which tested my problem-solving skills and resilience.

Additionally, leveraging the database and AI capabilities was a complex undertaking. I faced difficulties in structuring the database to support dynamic user interactions and in fine-tuning the AI to provide meaningful recommendations

I am incredibly proud of the intuitive design and user experience I created with Tour De Campus, AI integration, Using maps, and personal growth.

What we learned

Through developing Tour De Campus, I gained valuable insights into intuitive design and user experience, emphasizing user-centered principles. I learned to integrate AI effectively, enhancing interactivity and personalization. Navigating the complexities of using maps improved my skills in presenting information.

What's next for Tour De Campus

Looking ahead, I plan to expand Tour De Campus by incorporating user-generated reviews and ratings for locations, fostering a community-driven approach to campus exploration. I envision developing it into a social media platform for school guidance, where students can share experiences, tips, and recommendations with one another.
