Inspiration

What inspired us to build this app came from the frustration of having to check multiple platforms and apps just to stay updated with what’s happening in the Malaysian Student Association in Korea (PPMK). The moment we heard the hackathon theme “Enhancing Digital Connectivity Within Student Communities,” we immediately thought of creating a single hub where Malaysian students can stay connected and access everything they need in one website. As PPMK members ourselves, we knew firsthand how valuable this solution would be.

What it does

  • Dashboard: Central hub after login with all main features
  • Community Confession: A safe anonymous space to share stories, ask questions, and use hashtags
  • PPMK Section:
    • Equipment booking (redirects to Google Form)
    • Simple FAQ page for quick answers
  • Student Clubs: Each club has its own channel to post updates, polls, and announcements
  • Batch Channels: Dedicated space for communication within each batch
  • Account Page: Student profile with bio, contact info, university, batch, and subscribed clubs
  • Add2Cart: A student marketplace where anyone can post and browse items
  • Career and Extracurricular Board: Opportunities for internships, jobs, and volunteering
  • Sogaeting (Chingu-ting) 🥰: Anonymous friend-matching based on interests with private chat support
  • Personal Calendar: Sync PPMK and student club events (option to embed Google Calendar)
  • Add-ons: Currency exchange and QR check-in scanner

How we built it

We first created the prototype of the website using Figma, then developed it with the help of ChatAndBuild. Our first version also integrated Supabase.

Challenges we ran into

We had to learn everything from scratch, including designing on Figma, building a website using ChatAndBuild, integrating Supabase, and creating a functioning website for the first time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to build a website with the same layout as the prototype we designed in Figma. We also came up with creative features to enhance the PPMK network. We believe these features would be very useful in real-life application.

What we learned

We learned how to build a website from start to finish and how to collaborate effectively in an online hackathon as a team.

What's next for PPMK Connect

Our hope is that PPMK Connect can grow into a central hub where members of the Malaysian Student Association in South Korea can connect, stay updated, and build new networks.
