PPMK Student App

Inspiration

As students, we know how stressful it can be to keep track of everything happening on campus. Announcements are usually scattered across emails, WhatsApp groups, or posters, and it’s easy to miss out on events or club updates. We wanted to solve this problem by creating one platform where students can find everything they need — from events to announcements — without the hassle.

What it does

The PPMK Student App is a one-stop platform for student life. It helps students: Stay updated with upcoming events through the calendar. Explore and join clubs via the club directory. Communicate with peers and groups through the chat hub. Shop for products, tickets, and fundraisers on Add2Cart. Access official announcements, documents, and polls in PPMK Central.

How we built it

We designed the app with a clean and simple UI to make it student-friendly. Using modern web technologies, we focused on building modular features that connect seamlessly. We worked collaboratively as a team, dividing tasks such as UI/UX design, frontend, backend, and database setup.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was integrating multiple features into a single app without making it feel cluttered. We also had to manage time effectively since balancing project development with our academic workload was not easy. Another challenge was ensuring smooth navigation and responsiveness across different devices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we managed to create a working prototype that brings together so many aspects of student life. Seeing the calendar, club directory, chat system, and marketplace all functioning within one app was a big achievement for us. We’re also proud that the design looks clean and user-friendly, which was one of our main goals.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to collaborate effectively as a team under time constraints. We gained hands-on experience in building a full-stack web app, improving both our technical and problem-solving skills. We also learned the importance of user-centered design, making sure that every feature was built to actually solve student needs.

What's next for PPMK Student App

We’d like to add more personalization, such as tailored event recommendations and smarter notifications. We also plan to improve the UI/UX and explore integrating the app with campus systems for wider adoption. Our long-term goal is to make this the go-to app for students to stay connected, engaged, and informed.
