During the pandemic, we noticed the media talking about a group of high-risk individuals. Research told us that obesity was one of the leading conditions that increased the risk-off of severe illnesses. Obesity also leads to other conditions on the high-risk list. We thought a good part of the solution is a teen healthy diet habit-building app because we noticed non-hereditary obesity usually stems from bad eating habits since youth. There are weight loss and calories counting apps on the market but most of them are for people over 18. We designed our algorithm specifically to build good habits and for teens under 18.

What it does

For hackathon 2020 we developed a healthy diet habit-building app. It helps build healthy diets by allowing users to input their daily meals and calculate if that meets(or exceeds) daily required protein, fat, carbohydrate, and calorie levels--making them more health-conscious. Our algorithm is specifically designed for users under 18 years old.

How I built it

We used dart language to build the app. We used flutter as our software development kit. We did all the code in the android studio.

Challenges I ran into

We struggled with a lot of bugs and errors as well as how to code many of the features we envisioned for the app.

Despite the struggles, we learned a lot about making apps and challenged ourselves as beginner coders.

What's next for PP nutrition

We prepare to develop image recognition AI to help the user input their food easier.
