A lot of companies and educational institutions are moving towards remote working. We are targeting schools, especially high schools, colleges, universities, and companies for people who work a lot on their computer. Especially now moving forward with COVID-19, many companies are considering remote working. We wanted to create an extension that would enable everyone to be more productive while using their computers

What it does

We created a computer extension to track productivity. You indicate if you are working, and it tracks whether or not you are researching, opening closing pages, clicking on stuff, scrolling on websites, etc. If you are slowing down in productivity (studies show after 30 min), it prompts you to do something else. It will offer a variety of options such as fresh memes, trending tweets, stress-relieving games (that even collaborate with other people), short workouts, and recommendations such as going on a walk (based on your location, weather, etc.), going to rest, munch on something, etc.. The recommendations are meant to be fun, make you smile, and leave you refreshed to start working again after at least 5 minutes. The recommendations are also customized to you and your interests (which you enter in a form). After your break period, the program asks you how you feel, and it might extend your break. The goal is to prevent wasting time, increasing productivity, and working smarter not harder.

How we built it

We built it using Java Script for the chrome extension. We also used HTML, CSS, and Java Script for the website.

Challenges we ran into

During the hackathon we ran into challenges with getting the java script code we wrote to run on the extension. We were unable to link the HTML with the JavaScript.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of getting the slide show on the website to work along with figuring out how to get the basics of the extensions set up. We are also proud of the activities page which allows people to filter the activities to curate them to their interests.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to create a computer extension on chrome and use JS to build it.

What's next for PP

Get the button and timer to work on the interface Add a To-Do List to the Extension so users can check off assignments as they complete them. Let users edit blacklisted websites Creating accounts by linking to a database Database would also contain and sort the activities Add an accept/decline button for recommended schedule Customizable break times (10 min, 20 min, etc.) 3 different ways for program to initiate a break: 1: work timer ends 2: user spends 3+ minutes on blacklisted website 3: user visits 3+ blacklisted websites
