Inspiration
Power outages leave households with limited backup power, making it difficult to know which appliances to keep running and how long the backup will last.
What it does
Power Priority calculates total appliance load, estimates backup runtime, and helps users identify high-power appliances during an outage.
How we built it
We built it using HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript in a single lightweight web app with a responsive mobile and desktop interface.
Challenges we ran into
We had to simplify complex power calculations and create a responsive interface that remains easy to use on different screen sizes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a functional, user-friendly calculator that turns backup-power data into practical outage decisions.
What we learned
We learned how to combine real-world calculations with simple user experience to solve a practical household problem.
What's next for Power Priority
We plan to add automatic appliance recommendations, solar and generator support, surge-power calculations, and smarter outage planning.
