Power Consumption Forecasting based on Population Growth

Inspiration

As an electrical engineer in the water industry, this project is building upon an analysis I conducted for a client's pump station. Power consumption is the highest expense for treatment facilities, and with the data collected daily, forecasting this consumption can help utilities prepare for future expansions as the community they service grows in population.

What it does

A Streamlit GUI allows the user to predict and forecast power consumption across the U.S. by moving the population slider.

How we built it

I used Python (Jupyter Notebooks), scikit-learn, and Streamlit.

Challenges we ran into

Preparing the data to be easily comparable and scalable took a lot of time.
