Inspiration

The poultry industry faces immense challenges, with an annual income loss of $89,653 million due to critical issues like broiler breeding ($45,111 million) and biosecurity lapses ($14,400 million). Poultry farmers struggle to manage disease outbreaks efficiently, leading to financial losses and compromised flock health. This inspired us to create PoultaVet AI, a solution that combines cutting-edge AI technology with veterinary expertise to revolutionize poultry health management.

What it does

PoultaVet AI harnesses the powerful capabilities of Google's Gemini API, a state-of-the-art generative AI tool, to detect diseases, recommend treatments, and prevent disease outbreaks in poultry health management. By utilizing the tuned model of the Gemini API, PoultaVet AI provides accurate disease detection, predictive analytics for disease outbreaks, and real-time monitoring. The app generates detailed disease detection reports, providing comprehensive insights for farmers to make informed decisions quickly and effectively while reducing losses by preventing disease outbreaks.

How we built it

We built PoultaVet AI using Python for the backend, HTML for the user interface, and integrated the powerful Gemini API by Google for its generative AI capabilities. Fine-tuning the AI models and integrating real-time alerts were challenges we overcame to ensure the app is user-friendly and effective for farmers.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of PoultaVet AI, our team faced challenges typical of our region, including unpredictable electricity supply interruptions and occasional internet connectivity issues. These disruptions varied in duration but often occurred during crucial work periods, impacting our productivity. As students in our 6th semester, we embarked on a steep learning curve, particularly in implementing advanced disease detection algorithms and optimizing the user interface for seamless interaction. Overcoming technical complexities, such as software compatibility issues and algorithm debugging, required concerted effort and problem-solving skills. Despite these obstacles, our team's determination and collaborative effort led to the successful development and deployment of PoultaVet AI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that PoultaVet AI can accurately detect diseases, provide valuable recommendations, and help farmers save money. By using Google's Gemini API, we were able to enhance our AI capabilities, improve accuracy, and provide real-time monitoring, which significantly benefits poultry farmers worldwide.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to integrate AI technology, specifically Google's Gemini API, into real-world applications effectively. We also improved our coding skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, ensuring a successful and impactful solution for poultry farmers.

What's next for PoultaVet AI

In the future, we plan to further enhance PoultaVet AI by incorporating more advanced machine learning algorithms for accuracy, genomic analysis for genetic factors, and additional real-time monitoring capabilities. These enhancements will solidify PoultaVet AI as the go-to solution for comprehensive and accurate poultry health management.
