Potzi

Inspiration

Since the theme was Las Vegas, gambling was the obvious choice. However, gambling is often high-stakes and stress-inducing. We decided to create a more fun, relaxed version that helps you clear out unwanted items and maybe even get something you like better.

What it does

Potzi brings the community together so they can gamble away their unwanted items in a fun and social way.

How we built it

We used a combination of modern web technologies to create a platform that feels and functions like a professional modern website.

What we learned

Before this hackathon, our team had no experience with Supabase or Express.js. This event gave us the perfect opportunity to get familiar with these new technologies.

What's next for Potzi

While the website is currently hosted for free, it would be irresponsible to leave it up without proper moderation. After the hackathon concludes, the live site will be closed, but the code will remain open source. Potzi is not intended to generate money or make users feel cheated; it's about the spirit of the swap.
