Inspiration

The desire to bring people together around home cooked food; it’s healthy, can prevent food waste, can improve mental health, save money and a great way to bring friends together.

What it does

Automatically organizes potluck menus from ingredients already available in each guest's kitchen.

How we built it

Wrote a detailed description of the app which we input into the Figma plug-in ‘Buzzy’. Buzzy spat out a data-model which we refined, then it created a Figma file. We re-designed the Figma file then it created a working web app for us. From here we added a variety of buttons to access the ChatGPT API, run certain prompts, and offer recipe suggestions based on the user’s inputs.

Challenges we ran into

Working with calls to ChatGPT since the response is not always deterministic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Starting from a single prompt a create a web and mobile platform to simplify the organization of potluck organization.

What we learned

How to refine data models using the Buzzy framework, How to craft self-correcting prompts, And that ChatGPT can be used to support many different roles and tasks.

What's next for Potluck Pal

Hopefully integrate this PotLuck functionality into the BigMealShare.com website and webapp
