Inspiration

Personal experience of someone waiting too long for Cadaver organ. Kidney patients have to on an average of about 3 to 5 years for organ availability. It is such a long time that doubt inevitably comes to many patient's mind whether they will get the organ and whether the system is working efficiently for them.

What it does

The proposed project is about maintaining organ waiting lists on permissioned blockchains to increase trust of patients and also to record those events which may later lead to a cadaver organ (such as accidents and strokes) on a separate blockchain. The blockchain for event recording is accessible to citizens, law enforcement and hospital reps for creating blocks so possibility event not being recorded gets minimized and the system can enforce some accountability on law enforcement and hospital representatives when needed. Thus is can result in increase in supply of Cadaver organs. Trust of patients is increased both in waitlist management and in knowing the how the events which could have resulted in a Cadaver organ availability were handled.

How we built it

The prototype was tried to be built on Substrate Framework. Smart contracts were tried to be built in Rust language. Turtorials available on Substrate website were used for learning.

Challenges we ran into

New to Substrate and Rust, So had to learn everything from scratch.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Could set up node and compile a simple Smart Contract.

What we learned

Substrate, Rust

What's next for Potential cadaver organ causing event tracking on Blockchain

Will continue building prototype.
