The inspiration behind creating Potato Trial Room stems from the necessity to provide users with a virtual trial experience when shopping for clothes online. This initiative aims to enhance the online shopping journey by allowing users to virtually try on garments, thereby minimizing uncertainty regarding size and style selection.
What it does
Potato Trial Room is a comprehensive online platform that enables users to virtually try on clothes, offering a visual representation of how different garments look on them. It empowers users to make more informed decisions about their purchases by incorporating features such as size recommendations, color customization, and collaboration with friends for fitting feedback.
How we built it
The online trial room is constructed using a mix of web scraping, utilizing tools like Beautiful Soup in Python for gathering clothing data from various sources, React.js for hosting the server, and Blender for seamlessly integrating stickman models with the clothes. Size information is sourced from different clothing companies, and a collaborative feature allows friends to share data and provide fitting suggestions.
Challenges we ran into
Several challenges were encountered during the development process, including complexities in web scraping, the integration of 3D models with clothing items in Blender, and ensuring accurate size recommendations from diverse brands. Overcoming hurdles related to collaborative features and addressing accessibility considerations, such as catering to color-blind individuals, also proved to be significant challenges.
