Inspiration

While our first ideas for the project were overambitious for our skillset, we all loved the idea of making a game that supports mental health.

What it does

Potato.tech teaches you about the benefits of including potatoes in your diet while being in an auto clicker game format.

How we built it

We created the basic website with HTML and bootstrap, then styled it with CSS. Finally, we used javascript to implement the game and other functionality.

Challenges we ran into

As a group, the languages we knew collectively wildly differed. Many groupmates were confused as to how they would contribute to a project in another language. Thankfully we were all open-minded and committed to coding in HTML, CSS, and javascript, even if a few of us had to learn these languages from scratch.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we managed to build a working website in such a short about of time without having much of the knowledge and skills beforehand.

What we learned

As our first hackathon, we learned the basics of HTML and CSS (as many of our groupmates had no experience in those areas) and how to avoid merge conflicts on GitHub.

What's next for Potato.tech

Other vegetables! We would love to expand by making versions for other vegetables that allow our users to have greater knowledge about healthy eating. Additionally, we would want to expand our player base by making the game mobile-friendly.
