Inspiration
We wanted to create an engaging game using a jumble of randomly generated words that might help participants declutter and distract participants of the Hackathon after long hours of debugging code.
What it does
It’s a game based on creating stories from a combination of random words given by the user and others added by our algorithm to spice things up. In this way the user creates their own stories and connections with the given words.
How we built it
The frontend is made in HTML, CSS & JS. It also uses Bootstrap. The backend uses Django and word2vec to generate extra words.
Challenges we ran into
- Lack of experience
- Discovering how to adequately use new technologies
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We didn’t know how to use most of the technologies that the project uses, so it has been an absolutely new experience for us. Also, we didn’t know each other before the HackUPC.
What we learned
We learned the importance of task delegation and time management and how it plays a pivotal role in trying to deliver a project under a time limit, when it comes to collaborative working.
What's next for Potato Brain
Integrate the backend and the frontend properly, so everything works as the final product was expected to work. To give a fluid unique experience, we need to use the same style for all the application.
