What is PoT?
PoT stands for "Picture Of Today" and it allows you and your friends to keep track of each other without too much time spend online based on the principle of: "a picture is worth a 1,000 words"
How does it works?
The application allows the user to post only ONE picture per day and share it with its friends. As you are keeping streaks, you will earn badges and "time tokens" that allow you to go back in time and upload a picture in the past. Each day you will be able to see all your friend's today picture at once, no comments or likes to keep it short.
Where did it start?
Started by prompting into ChatGPT the PRD of the application and ask to provide the best prompt for Bolt.New to generate the application, then copy/paste that prompt into Bolt.New to start the application development.
What did not worked?
The main challenge I have was with the integration of SUPABASE and the lack of scripting by Bolt.New to handle the pre-existence of objects in SUPABASE (specially POLICIES,TRIGGERS and FUNCTIONS) Which forced me to "discard" some of the SUPABASE scripts generated and run them manually in SUPABASE Query Editor.
What are you proud of?
The gamification mechanism in place to allow users to catch up with missing past days using "time token" earned by keeping streaks alive.
What are the lessons learned?
Bolt.New is very good and quick at building beautiful application as long as we approach it with a very detailed mind and breaking out each task to a minimum to avoid endless loop of "fixing" click or worse "revert". The building of Mobile application with Bolt.New is still not usable and would need more work to handle the 2 major platforms (IOS and ANDROID) but to be honest I did not push it too hard and kept it a web application for simplicity sake for now.
What's next for PoT?
PoT will now need some kind of "monetization" by allowing "paid" users to get perks much quicker than "non-paid" users. Maybe also limiting the "non-paid" users friend list and time frame in the past. How about maybe an export function for "paid" users to allow them to print their uploaded pictures as a custom calendar to keep or offer as a gift.
