Inspiration

Have you ever wanted to highlight something in a picture and quickly copy it into a Google Doc? Well, we have since forever. One of our group members, Sol, lived in Hong Kong for two years. Since he moved there, he started learning Chinese; he recalls spend hours searching for Chinese characters using a dictionary. He could've saved time and learned more by using TextSnip and quickly copying and pasting the character he didn't know onto an online dictionary. With respect to our other experiences, members of our group also often discuss difficult homework problems that they spend a lot of time typing out. TextSnip is meant to help everyone save time and increase overall work efficiency.

What it does

TextSnip uses Python-tesseract, an optical character recognition (OCR) tool, in order to convert words in a picture into text format.

What's next for TextSnip

Currently, the only language TextSnip is able to convert is English. We hope to implement other languages in the future such as Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, etc.
