Inspiration

We were inspired by several things. One of them was the inconvenience and cumbersome method of getting rewarded for creating content on social media. Currently, you have to do all of the work such as looking for sponsors and sharing referral links yourself, which this project simplifies. We were interested in ways to monetise the phenomenon that is social media and improve the financial options available to users in this space, almost creating a mini-economy out of this space.

What it does

This project allows users to easily get rewarded for the content they share. Using smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain, we were able to directly send users tokens for each 100 likes they receive. Since this is handled by smart contract it is inherently automated, decentralised and secure. In order to introduce more value in what users share, we decide to reduce this supply. In other words, users can only post a maximum of 1 post per day. As you cannot just spam posts, this incentivises users to focus on content quality over quality.

How we built it

We built this project using the industry standard web2.0 technologies such as React, Node.js and MongoDB, which are working in tangent with cutting edge web3.0 smart contract technologies based on the Ethereum Blockchain

Challenges we ran into

Since the web3.0 space is very new, it is much less refined and harder to come by valuable information, in addition to a high level of complexity associated with these inherently complex systems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of having accomplished an integrated system of using web2.0 technologies along with web3.0 technologies to utilise the best aspects of both.

What we learned

We have learned a lot about this new technology (web3). It was extremely interesting learning about this and exploring the cutting-edge part of the IT space.

What's next for Postr

We are planning on continuing the development of this project, as we believe it can hold real potential for users. We are extremely curious and eager to see how it progresses.
