Inspiration

We were inspired by Chris McCandless' story. McCandless spent years seeking total independence in the wilderness, only to reach a final, poignant epiphany as he faced death in isolation. In his final days, he wrote: "Happiness only real when shared." It was a powerful admission that his "ultimate adventure," though fueled by a desire for solitude, was ultimately incomplete without the human connection he had sought to escape.

If only he had a way to share his story...

What it does

We created dAI, an application that creates a story by uploading a snapshot of your day. It allows you to provide context and choose between a variety of templates tailored to your needs. Choose from field notes or a Polaroid, and translate your story into any language.

How we built it

We built it using Next.js with React and TypeScript for the front-end and utilized Gemini API to create the postcards.

Challenges we ran into

One of our computers broke down and we had issues with deployment due to issues with detecting TypeScript.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we created a working product in less than a day.

What we learned

We learned that technology is very fickle and how to troubleshoot when worse comes to worse.

What's next for dAI

-Adding more customizable tones, themes, texts, layouts.. etc.
